Update on Luke Jackson and Nathan O’Driscoll
Luke Jackson Sidelined for AAMI Community Series Clash Due to Concussion
Luke Jackson will miss Friday night’s AAMI Community Series clash against Port Adelaide as he undergoes the AFL’s concussion protocols. The forward/ruck experienced delayed concussion symptoms on Monday following Freo’s pre-season match simulation against West Coast over the weekend, leading him to sit out of main training on Tuesday morning.
According to Executive General Manager of Football Joe Brierty, Jackson is recovering well. Brierty explained that although Jackson was initially assessed and cleared to play following an incident with Reuben Ginbey during Saturday’s match simulation, he developed a delayed onset headache on Monday afternoon, prompting his placement into the concussion protocols.

Additionally, Nathan O’Driscoll is expected to be sidelined temporarily due to knee inflammation following the weekend’s match simulation. Brierty clarified that while there is no significant structural damage to O’Driscoll’s knee joint, the inflammation needs to subside before he can return to football activities. The timeline for O’Driscoll’s return remains uncertain, but the team is hopeful it will be short-term.
These developments add to Freo’s injury concerns, with Michael Frederick also ruled out of the AAMI Community Series fixture due to a minor hamstring complaint.
