EA Sports Announces Revival of College Football Video Game Series with Introduction of Name, Image, and Likeness Feature
After more than ten years away from the gaming landscape, EA Sports is set to reintroduce its beloved college football video game series this summer with College Football 25. This resurgence is made possible by the implementation of Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) regulations.
The advent of NIL allows EA Sports to extend offers to FBS players nationwide, providing them with $600 and a complimentary copy of the game for their chosen gaming console in exchange for the rights to use their likeness in the virtual realm. In less than a week since contract offers were dispatched, over 5,000 players have opted in, signaling widespread enthusiasm among collegiate athletes.
Numerous members of the Florida State football roster have already announced their participation in the game, including quarterback DJ Uiagalelei, wide receiver Jalen Brown, tight end Landen Thomas, offensive lineman Tye Hylton, and linebacker Justin Cryer, who shared their decisions on social media platforms. Notably, it appears that the game’s rosters will not be limited to scholarship athletes, as walk-ons such as quarterback Trever Jackson and defensive back Jaden Floyd have also expressed their involvement.
Uiagalelei, expected to be among the Seminoles’ top-rated players, brings a wealth of experience to the virtual gridiron after stints with Clemson and Oregon State. With impressive statistics from his recent season, including 2,638 passing yards, 21 touchdowns, and a career-best 8.7 yards per attempt, Uiagalelei’s presence adds depth and excitement to Florida State’s representation in the game.
Confirmation of Florida State’s inclusion in College Football 25 was previously announced by the official university account. EA Sports has revealed that all 134 FBS programs will be featured in the game, with a full release date anticipated to be announced in May.
