The Cleveland Cavaliers failed to replicate their fourth-quarter heroics on Wednesday evening, succumbing to the Chicago Bulls in a double-overtime battle. While there are discussions to be had about the Cavs’ shortcomings in this game, it’s crucial to acknowledge the positives.
One standout was Caris LeVert, who arguably delivered his finest performance of the season in Chicago. LeVert concluded the game with 14 points, seven rebounds, 15 assists, two steals, and two blocks, showcasing versatility across the board. His 15 assists mark a career high for the Cavs guard.
Caris LeVert also became the first NBA player since blocks and steals became official stats in 1973-74 to record at least 14 PTS, 15 AST, 7 REB, 2 STL and 2 BLK off the bench in a single game. https://t.co/cScBs2R2We

LeVert’s performance made NBA history, as he became the first player since the league began tracking blocks and steals to achieve such a stat line coming off the bench, as noted by @CavsNotes on X. Additionally, LeVert etched his name into Cavaliers lore by tying a franchise record for most assists off the bench. The last player to achieve 15 assists as a reserve was Bobby Washington on February 9, 1971, against the Los Angeles Lakers.
Despite not being traditionally viewed as a pass-first guard, LeVert emphasized his focus on ball movement after the game. “I’m just trying to move the ball,” LeVert remarked. “I know I have a really quick first step to get into the paint. For me, it’s all about just making the right first decision. I know we have a lot of guys that can make shots, so I just try to make the right decision.”
LeVert’s standout performance signals a positive turn for Cleveland’s bench players after a challenging stretch. However, it’s disappointing that their efforts couldn’t secure a victory in the end.
