F1 star’s stolen Ferrari, worth £350,000.

A valuable Ferrari stolen from an F1 driver in Italy almost 30 years ago, has been discovered in the UK.

The red F512M went missing in 1995 from Imola, where former driver Gerhard Berger was racing in the San Marino Grand Prix. Despite being reported missing, along with another sports car belonging to a different F1 star, neither vehicle was located.

The F512M, a rare model with only 501 ever produced, was originally valued at around £175,000 but is now worth nearly £350,000.

An inquiry began when an American attempted to purchase the stolen vehicle through a British broker last year.

Ferrari conducted checks on the car, indicating it was stolen, and alerted the Metropolitan Police in January. Investigators found that the car had been sent to Japan soon after it was stolen and stayed there until it was transported to the UK in late 2023.

The Metropolitan Police are currently holding the vehicle to prevent it from being exported from the UK while investigations are ongoing.
