ESPN analyst strongly criticizes rival fans who are critical of Michigan football quarterback J.J. McCarthy.

Ohio State fans have a strong dislike for former Michigan football quarterback J.J. McCarthy, and it’s understandable why. Despite committing to the Wolverines and posting a 3-0 career record against the Buckeyes, Ohio State chose Kyle McCord over McCarthy.

In the 2022 game, McCarthy accounted for four touchdowns and three touchdown passes of 45 yards or more, and he added another touchdown pass in 2023. Despite these accomplishments, Ohio State fans still criticize him, calling him average. However, McCarthy won his starts against the Buckeyes by an average of 14 points and was the first Michigan football quarterback to win in Columbus in over 20 years.

Louis Riddick of ESPN responded to the criticism, stating that if people actually studied McCarthy, they would see why many in the NFL are optimistic about his potential. Riddick pointed out McCarthy’s road stats, including 10 touchdown passes to one interception, as well as three rushing touchdowns. McCarthy also completed over 70 percent of his passes in five of seven road games and at least 63 percent in six of seven.

Despite these impressive statistics, some fans questioned McCarthy’s performance on the road, particularly in a game against Maryland where he barely completed over 50 percent of his passes. However, McCarthy was playing with a sprained ankle, leading to questions about whether he should have played at all.

McCarthy’s performance against Maryland, where he barely completed over 50 percent of his passes, was impacted by a sprained ankle, leading to questions about his playing status. Despite this, I believe he is the best quarterback in this draft. Unlike Ohio State fans, I don’t see him as a sure bust. It’s important to remem ber that their opinions may be influenced by their hatred and envy, especially considering they had to deal with Kyle McCord and are now looking forward to Will Howard as their quarterback.
