As the Detroit Tigers aim for improvement in 2024, they might be on the verge of witnessing a standout season from former top prospect Parker Meadows, who is impressing in spring training.

As the Detroit Tigers aim to maintain their upward trajectory in 2024, they might be on the cusp of witnessing a breakout season from former top prospect Parker Meadows.

According to the Rotowire fantasy baseball portal, Meadows recorded a double while going 1-for-3 in Friday’s Grapefruit League game against the Orioles. With a .350 batting average and a 1.131 OPS this spring, he is showing promising performance.

Meadows has been on a hot streak, hitting two home runs and two doubles in eight games this spring. The young outfielder seems to be the primary choice for center field in Detroit. After a mixed performance in his first 37 games in 2023, Meadows could be primed for a breakout in his inaugural full MLB season in 2024.

Meadows seems poised to take on center field duties, while young outfielder Riley Greene is slated to move to right field. Meadows, aged 24, was a second-round pick for the Tigers from a Georgia high school and made his MLB debut last year.

In his initial 37 games, he batted .240 with three home runs and 13 RBIs.

If Meadows does indeed have a breakout season, he will join Spencer Torkelson and Greene as homegrown position players in the Tigers’ lineup. Additionally, Colt Keith is expected to make the team’s roster following spring training.

Alongside these promising young position players, Detroit focused on bolstering its pitching for the 2024 season. Casey Mize is set to rejoin the starting rotation after a year off due to injury. Additionally, the team made key signings during the offseason, adding veterans Jack Flaherty and Kenta Maeda to further strengthen the pitching staff.
