Michigan is on the verge of losing another essential member of its coaching staff.

The Michigan Wolverines program is poised for significant changes next season with the appointment of new head coach Sherrone Moore, succeeding Jim Harbaugh. However, unfortunately for Moore, a vital component of Michigan’s culture will not continue under his leadership.

A significant factor in Michigan’s success over the years has been its dominant running game, which was overseen by running backs coach Mike Hart for the past three seasons. Hart not only managed the on-field performance of the running backs but also played a role in recruiting talents like Donvan Edwards and Blake Corum to the program.

According to The Detroit News, Hart will not be returning to the program for the upcoming season, and he reportedly cleared out his locker at Schembechler Hall recently.

The replacement for Hart and the overall impact of his departure on the program remain to be seen and will be closely watched.

Michigan supporters will undoubtedly feel a sense of loss with Hart’s departure. As a former standout player for the team from 2004 to 2007, where he served as a four-year starter at running back, Hart left an indelible mark on the program. He still holds the record for the most rushing yards and attempts in a career at Michigan.

Considering Hart’s successful tenure as a running backs coach with Michigan, his next destination will be of great interest. Notably, the Los Angeles Chargers appointed a running backs coach for Jim Harbaugh’s new coaching staff back in February. Thus, wherever Hart decides to go, it appears that he will be moving on from Michigan entirely.
