Michigan is parting ways with a key member of its coaching staff.
Next season, the Michigan Wolverines program will experience significant changes, with new head coach Sherrone Moore replacing Jim Harbaugh. However, Moore will not have the benefit of a key figure in Michigan’s culture returning next year. Michigan’s success has been greatly attributed to its strong running game, which was led by running backs coach Mike Hart for the past three seasons.
Hart not only coached the running backs on the field but also played a significant role in recruiting top talents like Donovan Edwards and Blake Corum to Michigan. According to The Detroit News, Hart will not return to the program for the upcoming season, as he has reportedly cleaned out his locker at Schembechler Hall.
The departure of Hart will undoubtedly be felt by Michigan fans, as he was a standout player for the team from 2004 to 2007, holding program records for career rushing yards and rushing attempts. It will be interesting to see who Michigan chooses as his replacement and how this change will impact the program.
Given Hart’s success at Michigan, his next coaching destination will be watched closely. The Los Angeles Chargers recently hired a running backs coach for Jim Harbaugh’s staff, suggesting that Hart is fully moving on from his time at Michigan.
