Potential Defensive End Prospects Visit Florida State: Analysis of Anthony Addison and Jaquavious Dodd
Florida State recently hosted two defensive end prospects from South Carolina on campus. Both of these players could potentially receive offers from the Seminoles as they consider expanding their roster of defensive ends.
Anthony Addison
Anthony Addison, is considered the more prominent recruit of the two. He already holds scholarship offers from notable programs like South Carolina, Tennessee, Duke, Georgia Tech, and West Virginia. While Addison may not have the same length as some other pass rushers, his performance on film has caught the attention of both the Gamecocks and the Volunteers.
“We had a great time,” Addison expressed about his visit with his father.
If Florida State were to extend a scholarship offer to Addison, it would have a significant impact on his recruitment.
“That would be a big-time offer,” he stated. “If they were to offer me while I was there… I don’t want to say too much, but you know what I mean. I’m still waiting for it though. It should be coming sooner or later. But I like them though. They would definitely be up there with schools like South Carolina and Tennessee.”
Addison has official visits already scheduled to South Carolina on June 21 and Duke on June 7. In the 2023 season, he recorded 59 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, and 4 sacks.
DE Jaquavious Dodd
DE Jaquavious Dodd, standing at 6-foot-6 and weighing 215 pounds, may not attract as much attention in his recruitment as Addison, but he possesses intriguing qualities. His performance during his junior season speaks volumes, as Dodd racked up impressive statistics including 53 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, 13 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and one blocked field goal.
Dodd expressed a desire to visit FSU because he envisions himself wearing the Garnet and Gold uniform. He received an invitation from director of high school relations Ryan Bartow, and his experience in Tallahassee was highly positive.
“Florida State is one of the schools I could see myself playing football at,” Dodd commented. “I appreciate their environment and the way the coaches treated me during my visit. It was enjoyable, and I had a great experience.”
The next step for Dodd and FSU is for him to participate in the ‘Noles’ Elite Camp on June 9. Dodd plans to compete at this event.
At this stage, Virginia Tech, which has offered him a scholarship, appears to be in a favorable position in Dodd’s recruitment.
