The competition for roster spots in the New York Yankees’ camp is fierce. Each day offers players a chance to impress coaches and instructors, showcasing their abilities for a shot at making the Opening Day roster. Unfortunately, the dream ended, at least for now, for three players: two pitchers and a utility infielder who were reassigned to the minor league camp.
Before Wednesday’s game, right-handed pitcher Duane Underwood Jr. was reassigned to the minor league camp. Following the game, the same fate awaited Josh VanMeter, a strong candidate for a backup infielder position.

Before taking the field on Thursday, the team also made the decision to send left-hander Oddanier Mosqueda to the minor league camp.
