Cincinnati Reds Roster Moves before Washington Nationals.
Yesterday, the Cincinnati Reds suffered a 4-2 defeat against the San Francisco Giants in Cactus League action. They are set to play against the Los Angeles Angels today at 4:10 PM. Ahead of the game, the Reds made two roster changes as they prepare for Opening Day. With seven spring training games remaining, the team will soon return to Cincinnati for the start of the season, opening against the Washington Nationals at home on Thursday, March 28th.
The Reds signed right-handed pitcher Michael Gil to a Minor League Contract. Standing at six feet two inches and weighing 170 pounds, Gil is a free agent. The team has not yet announced where Gil will be assigned within their Minor League System. He may join the Arizona Complex team after spring training.
Additionally, the Reds signed right-handed pitcher Ayendy Pena to a Minor League Contract. Pena stands at six feet one inch and weighs 172 pounds. Like Gil, there are no details yet on where Pena will be assigned within the Reds’ minor league system. He could also be headed for the Arizona Complex team after spring training.
