Melbourne Storm Provide Injury Updates Ahead of Round 5

The Melbourne Storm are optimistic that Cameron Munster, a key player, will be ready for Round 5 after dealing with a groin injury. They’re counting on their upcoming break during the bye week to help Munster recover.

Munster won’t be playing this weekend against Newcastle, but with the bye week next, there’s a good chance he’ll return for the game against Brisbane two weeks from now, according to Storm football boss Frank Ponissi.

Unfortunately, forward Christian Welch won’t be available due to a failed HIA, while fullback Sua Fa’alogo injured his ankle while playing for the Northern Sydney Bears. Fa’alogo was considered for the Knights game but will spend the week recovering.

Nelson Asofa-Solomona, another forward, is expected to play for the Sunshine Coast Falcons this weekend as he continues his recovery from a hamstring injury. He, along with Munster, Fa’alogo, and Welch, is likely to be ready for NRL selection by Round 5.

Ponissi mentioned that Asofa-Solomona is close to returning to action and getting some game time with one of their feeder teams, which is good news for the Storm.

The Melbourne Storm will face Newcastle on Sunday at McDonald Jones Stadium, aiming to maintain their undefeated start to the 2024 season.
