Despite an impressive performance in camp this year, where he boasted a batting average of .311 along with two home runs and two stolen bases, the Orioles have made the decision to send him to the minor leagues for further development, despite indications that he is ready for the MLB.

According to a tweet by reporter Sam Dykstra, the Orioles have reassigned Jackson Holliday to their Minor League camp.

Baltimore Orioles’ highly-touted prospect, Jackson Holliday, has yet to face a significant challenge in his professional career.

Having been invited to camp this year, Holliday showcased his skills by batting .311/.354/.600 with two home runs and two stolen bases, indicating his readiness for the MLB.

However, the Orioles have made the decision to send him to the minor leagues to further his development, despite the belief that there isn’t much left for him to learn.

According to a tweet by reporter Sam Dykstra, the Orioles have reassigned Jackson Holliday to their Minor League camp.

There are a couple of possible reasons for this decision. Firstly, the Orioles may have their starting infielders firmly established and prefer to have Holliday playing regularly in Triple-A rather than being a reserve in the MLB. Secondly, they may be looking to gain an extra year of team control over Holliday by keeping him in the minors for a few weeks and avoiding “Super Two” status.

While this decision is common practice among teams, it can still be frustrating for fans who are eager to see promising prospects in action.

Nevertheless, Holliday deserves the opportunity to play regularly, and if the Orioles cannot provide him with that in the majors, it may be best for him to start the season in Norfolk.

It’s likely that we’ll see him in the majors sooner rather than later.
