Breaking News: Michigan has suffered losses in their wide receiver corps…
Michigan football’s spring practices will proceed without the participation of wide receiver Karmello English, as indicated by the team’s recently released spring roster which notably excludes his name. A spokesperson for the program confirmed to Maize n Brew that English is no longer part of the team.
English gained attention as one of the standout freshmen wide receivers during the 2023 offseason, featuring in six games and contributing on special teams. Although he showcased promise with a punt return for eight yards in his debut against Eastern Carolina, his on-field impact was limited, catching only one pass for a touchdown during the season.
Hailing from Central Phenix City, a renowned high school football program in the state, English was a highly rated four-star prospect. Despite initially committing to Auburn during his senior season, he ultimately chose Michigan. He was considered one of the top recruits in the Wolverines’ 2023 class, which earned a place in the top 20 rankings by several major recruiting services.
Michigan’s wide receiver corps has faced setbacks this offseason, with departures including Roman Wilson and Cornelius Johnson to the NFL, and Darrius Clemons transferring to Oregon State. As a result, the team will rely on its remaining receivers for offensive contributions, including returning players Tyler Morris, Semaj Morgan, Fredrick Moore, and Peyton O’Leary.
Additionally, freshmen Channing Goodwin and I’Marion Stewart are expected to make their debut this season, adding depth to the position.
