The NRL is anticipated to initiate an inquiry following a violent altercation between Roosters and Rabbitohs fans at Allianz Stadium on Friday evening.

After Trent Robinson’s team dominated their rivals with a 48-6 victory, tensions escalated among supporters at Moore Park in Sydney.

As the Roosters held a commanding lead late in the second half, a confrontation erupted in the members section of the renovated sports facility shortly after South Sydney fullback Latrell Mitchell received a sin-bin penalty.

Video footage of the incident depicts multiple individuals engaged in physical altercations, exchanging punches, and causing distress among onlookers, including numerous children.

Initially, security personnel faced challenges in intervening, but eventually, many participants disengaged from the altercation.

A man dressed in a Rabbitohs jersey was observed with a bloody mouth.

CCTV footage is likely to be utilized to identify the individuals involved, leading to potential bans from NRL matches and potential legal proceedings.

On the field, the Rabbitohs suffered their third consecutive defeat, putting pressure on coach Jason Demetriou and raising questions about his future.

Speaking at the post-game press conference, Demetriou expressed disappointment and acknowledged it as one of the lowest points of his career. However, he remained optimistic about the team’s ability to bounce back, emphasizing trust in the group and the need for resilience.

He highlighted the importance of regaining focus and kickstarting their season with a win, acknowledging the external scrutiny and emphasizing the team’s need to remain united.

Demetriou’s decisions, such as dropping halfback Lachlan Ilias and benching hooker Damien Cook, drew attention and scrutiny. Additionally, concerns were raised when star recruit Jack Wighton appeared to injure his knee late in the game, further adding to the Rabbitohs’ woes.
