J.J. McCarthy demonstrated his abilities at Michigan’s pro day.
Quarterback J.J. McCarthy exhibited the qualities expected of a top-tier NFL Draft prospect on Friday, delivering a dominant performance at Michigan’s pro day. According to ESPN draft analyst Matt Miller, McCarthy’s throwing session lasted about 25 minutes and was nearly flawless, with only “just two clear misses.” He displayed impressive zip, touch, and accuracy, particularly excelling in hitting deep routes with ease and velocity.
Numerous videos capture McCarthy’s achievements at the pro day, including a notable throw to Blake Corum while rolling to his left, drawing applause from spectators. Another deep pass, this time to Mike Sainristil, also garnered praise from scouts and coaches present.

Reflecting on his performance, McCarthy mentioned his focus on showcasing various skills, including touch throws over the middle, throws on the move, and navigating tight pockets. He aimed to address questions about his ability to execute specific plays, such as out breakers to the left and deep post throws, and expressed confidence in his demonstration.
McCarthy recently met with representatives from the Washington Commanders and the New York Giants, with plans for a private workout scheduled with the Minnesota Vikings. It appears McCarthy will have no shortage of interest from NFL teams leading up to the draft.
