The understrength Essendon team is looking to secure a significant victory against a strong opponent.
Essendon will travel to Sydney to continue their winning start to the season against the Swans at the SCG in a Saturday night clash.
Sydney, with a 2-0 record and impressive percentage of 141.4%, have started the season strongly, defeating top-four finishers Melbourne and Collingwood in their first two matches. They will look to continue their form on home soil.
The Bombers, 1-0 with a percentage of 128.9%, are coming off a thrilling season-opening win over Hawthorn but will be without several key players for this important game. Star midfielder Darcy Parish will miss out due to a hamstring concern, while Mason Redman is suspended, Zach Reid has a soft-tissue injury, and Matt Guelfi is dealing with a calf issue.
However, Essendon will welcome back fan-favorite ruckman Sam Draper from a groin injury after he successfully completed three VFL games. He will be joined by defender Jayden Laverde, rebounder Nick Hind, and young midfielder Ben Hobbs as Essendon’s inclusions for Round 2.
Sydney has made one change, with Corey Warner replacing Robbie Fox (calf) in John Longmire’s side.
