Former Dougherty County Schools Athletic Director and Auburn football coach Frank Orgel passed away on Friday, March 22 in Auburn, Alabama.
Orgel served as the Dougherty County Schools athletic director from 1995 to 2001.
He was raised in Albany and was a football player at the University of Georgia.
In 2014, Orgel spoke with WALB about his battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, which left him paralyzed on the left side of his body.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, March 28 from 6-8 p.m. (EST) at the Auburn University Club Pavilion, located at 1650 Yarbrough Farms Blvd in Auburn.
