Essendon midfielder has recently signed a long-term contract, Expressing his longterm commitment to Don.

Essendon midfielder Sam Durham has agreed to a long-term contract extension, committing to the club until the end of the 2028 season.

Durham, who joined the Bombers from Richmond’s VFL program in the 2021 Mid-Season Draft, made his AFL debut later that year and has since become a key player in Brad Scott’s team, accumulating 51 career games. His new deal solidifies his place alongside other Essendon players, such as Kyle Langford, Nic Martin, Zach Merrett, Xavier Duursma, Ben McKay, Peter Wright, Mason Redman, and Darcy Parish, who are all signed until 2027 or beyond.

Durham expressed his excitement about the new contract, stating, “It’s pretty surreal to sign with this great club…It was very special to call Mum up and give her the good news.” He also praised the coaching staff, particularly Brad Scott and Daniel Giansiracusa, for their role in his development.

Durham has had a strong start to the 2024 season, achieving career-high averages in disposals, tackles, inside 50s, and contested possessions. Essendon will face St Kilda in their third game of the season at Marvel Stadium on Saturday at 4:20 pm (AEDT).
