West Coast Injury Update: 23-Year-Old Star Confirmed to be Sidelined Alongside Other Player

The West Coast Eagles are poised to receive a significant boost in availability as a quartet of players near their comebacks.

Following a successful practice match win over Subiaco involving 12 AFL-listed players, key defender Harry Edwards is primed to make his return in the WAFL Eagles’ season-opener against Swan Districts this Saturday.

“Harry has recovered from his broken finger, so if he gets through training on Thursday like we expect, he’ll play this week,” stated High Performance Manager Mat Inness to west coast.

Meanwhile, midfielders Dom Sheed and Jai Culley are also progressing well and eyeing potential returns in the upcoming week.

“Dom has been in full training for the last two weeks, gradually building up his load. We expect to see him back in action in the next week or two,” Inness added. “Jai, who suffered an ACL injury last year, has been in full training for five or six weeks now. He’s likely a week or two away from returning to play.”

Dynamic forward Liam Ryan is making strides in his recovery from hamstring surgery and is anticipated to be back on the field in approximately two to three weeks. Similarly, draftee Archer Reid is showing promising signs of progress from his knee issue and could be returning to play in about three to four weeks.

On the injury front, big men Matt Flynn and Rhett Bazzo are undergoing rehabilitation work and aim to return in the next six to eight weeks. Co-captain Oscar Allen recently underwent minor knee surgery and is managing bone stress, while Elijah Hewett will undergo foot surgery in Melbourne this week, sidelining him until after the mid-season bye.

Overall, with several players nearing their returns, the West Coast Eagles are poised to bolster their lineup in the coming weeks, providing a significant boost to their campaign.
