Breaking News: Lions Confirm Heartbreaking Setback for 27-Year-Old Star Recruit
Brisbane has disclosed that their recent recruit, Tom Doedee, has faced a significant setback in his return to the field, sustaining additional damage to his ACL just days before his anticipated comeback game.
The former Crow, now playing for the Lions, suffered a partial tear to his ACL during a training incident on Tuesday. Doedee, who had previously endured a ruptured ACL midway through last season, was poised to make his Brisbane debut against Collingwood on Thursday night, marking his first AFL appearance since last June.
Expressing disappointment, Lions football boss Danny Daly described the situation as heartbreaking for Doedee, emphasizing the extended period of recovery that lies ahead.
Daly stated, “It’s incredibly heartbreaking for Tom, and everyone at the Club is really feeling for him. Sport can produce some of the most amazing moments, but in cases like this, it can also be extremely cruel.”
He continued, “Tom is a fantastic person who has already become a highly popular member of our Club, and everyone was excited to see him so close to making his comeback.”
Acknowledging Doedee’s determination and professionalism in his recovery efforts, Daly expressed confidence in his ability to overcome this setback.
“Everyone at the Brisbane Lions will continue to give our full support to Tom and his family,” Daly affirmed.
Doedee is scheduled to consult with a surgeon to determine the extent of the injury and devise a plan for his recovery.
