Changes for Adelaide Clash: Carlton Coach Downplays Concerns Over Curnow’s Ankle Injury

Carlton coach Michael Voss has downplayed concerns regarding key forward Charlie Curnow‘s ankle injury, assuring that the Blues will take a cautious approach in managing his condition. Despite this reassurance, the team will face at least one change for their upcoming match against Fremantle in Adelaide due to Curnow’s injury. During Friday’s game against North Melbourne, Curnow sustained the injury in the closing minutes, prompting some apprehension among fans. Although he was assisted off the field by club trainers and received treatment on the interchange, he did not complete the match. Given Curnow’s history of setbacks, the decision was made to withdraw him from the game as a precautionary measure.

Voss commented on Curnow’s injury post-game, stating that although he rolled his ankle and appeared to be in discomfort, they opted to remove him from play with only a few minutes remaining. Additionally, defender Caleb Marchbank will be unavailable for the upcoming match due to a concussion sustained during the second half of the game against North Melbourne. This absence is expected to provide an opportunity for either Lewis Young or Brodie Kemp, both of whom were not selected in the previous match.

Despite these setbacks, Carlton’s forward duo of Curnow and Harry McKay showcased their potency, contributing significantly to the team’s victory. McKay, in particular, has been in exceptional form this season, demonstrating confidence and improved performance. Voss praised McKay’s resilience and growth, highlighting his impressive start to the season.

Carlton’s undefeated record heading into the upcoming clash with Fremantle adds excitement to the fixture, which promises to be a compelling encounter between two teams with perfect records so far this season. The match is scheduled to take place at Adelaide Oval on Saturday, April 6th.
