Offensive lineman Carter Scruggs appreciates another visit to Notre Dame in 2026.
After his March visit to Notre Dame, Carter Scruggs was eager to return for the Irish Invasion event this past weekend.
“It went really well,” said the 2026 offensive lineman from Virginia.
The 6-foot-6, 280-pound athlete was pleased with his performance.
“I thought I did really well with being explosive,” he said. “I couldn’t participate in most activities because I’m recovering from shoulder surgery, so I missed out on the one-on-ones and other hitting drills, but for what I could do, I did a great job.”
Scruggs, who attends Loudoun County High School, is four months post-surgery.
“I’m just getting back into things,” he said. “It was tough at first, but I’ve adapted and have been training for the past two months.”
Scruggs has received offers from prestigious programs such as Alabama, Georgia, Virginia, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Duke, NC State, Penn State, and Michigan State, among others.
He felt Notre Dame was impressed by his athleticism and attitude.
“They really loved how I moved,” he said. “They appreciate my competitive nature, even though I can’t compete fully right now.”
Scruggs appreciated working with Notre Dame offensive line coach Joe Rudolph.
“He’s awesome,” Scruggs said. “He knows his stuff and is one of the best out there.”
He didn’t take a full campus tour this time but had done so on his previous visit.
After a couple of visits in a few months, Scruggs is eager to return.
“I definitely want to come back,” he said. “I think I want to come back for a game, that would be awesome.”
Next, he plans to visit Clemson, Penn State, and Michigan.
