Verstappen hopes to make a swift comeback.

After retiring early from the Melbourne Grand Prix at Albert Park Circuit,
Verstappen is “ready to fight” in this weekend’s Japanese Grand Prix.

The current world champion resigned from the race early on in the last one due to a brake issue, which caused a little explosion when he went into the pits to end his career.

That meant that the Dutchman’s nine-race winning streak had come to an end, and Carlos Sainz was the one who did it a second time.

It’s interesting to note that Sainz broke Verstappen’s winning streak of ten races in the Japanese GP that came just after the 2023 Singapore Grand Prix last season.

In light of this, the 26-year-old understands how to handle situations classily in Suzuka.

Verstappen stated, “Suzuka is always a great circuit to go racing at.” “As a team, we have had many memorable experiences here over the years, including winning both my second Drivers’ Championship and the Constructors’ Championship here last year.

“It has been nice to have had a break with family and friends before the racing starts and always fun to spend some time in Tokyo too.”

hoping to come back
Verstappen is in the running to become the first driver since Michael Schumacher to win three straight races in Japan. He has won the last two races in Suzuka.

From 2000 to 2002, Schumacher won every season in Japan; if the Dutchman recovers well from the Australian Grand Prix, he may duplicate that achievement.

“The last race in Melbourne was unfortunate and these things happen, however we achieved nine race wins in a row, which is an impressive feat, so we are looking to come back even stronger for this weekend,” said the leader in the championship.

“The Team is feeling confident for Suzuka: it is an iconic circuit and is always fun to drive. The track has a lot of high speed corners and high degradation and we need to ensure that we optimise our performance where we can, especially with rain forecasted for this weekend.

“I am looking forward to getting back in the car and ready to fight for the win this weekend.”
