Emotional Jung expressed frustration regarding his wrist injury.

Josh Jung recently entered the Rangers’ clubhouse with his right arm in a cast, following a fractured right wrist from being hit by a pitch in a game against the Rays. He had surgery the next day in Phoenix. Jung, fearing he would become too emotional, prepared a statement inspired by Kobe Bryant’s response to a similar injury.

Addressing his feelings with tears in his eyes, Jung expressed frustration at the setback but also reflected on finding perspective and maintaining belief in his ability to overcome this challenge. Despite initial estimates of a six-week recovery, Jung may need eight to 10 weeks due to more extensive damage

This injury interrupts a strong start to the 2024 season, where Jung had a .412 batting average with two homers in the first four games. This setback adds to a series of injuries that have plagued Jung in recent years, including a fractured left thumb in 2023 and various injuries in previous Spring Trainings. Manager Bruce Bochy noted Jung’s disappointment but praised his work ethic and determination to recover.
