The Wolverines are preparing to welcome a linebacker commitment from Miami.

Michigan will unofficially host four-star linebacker Elijah Menendez, a current Miami (FL) commitment, for a three-day trip next weekend. Menendez confirmed this visit with Brice Marich of TMI on Sunday evening.

Despite committing to Miami in December, Menendez was a top target for Michigan’s previous defensive staff under Jesse Minter. Their pursuit of him has been reinvigorated since the hiring of Brian Jean-Mary, who played a key role in securing this visit for the Wolverines.

In addition to this upcoming visit, Menendez is also expected to take an official visit to Ann Arbor the weekend of June 7th. This will provide the Michigan coaching staff with at least two extended opportunities to sway the Kissimmee (FL) Osceola stand out from his commitment to the Hurricanes. Menendez explained to TMI in February why Michigan remains in consideration for him.

“Coach BJ is real, and he’s from around the same area as me, so we click really well,” Menendez said. “I have always viewed Michigan as a top contender for me.

I always loved Michigan and now adding Coach BJ, I just hope they recruit me hard because it’s been a few months without a linebacker coach and Michigan was still in my top three. Now we’ll see what they can do with one.”

Currently ranked 138th overall in the 2025 247Sports Composite rankings, Menendez’s visit could be pivotal in Michigan’s efforts to secure his commitment.
