On Tuesday night, young soccer players may be seen practicing on camera.
At the end of March, 10-year-old Mark Vargas signed a deal with LAFC to play for their professional soccer program starting in August.
For their passion of sports, a group of young lads will spend hours on this field and hours in the car.
They signed contracts with Los Angeles-based professional soccer academies with the assistance of their coach.
For as long as he can remember, Mark Vargas has participated in soccer ball kicks.
“I’ve just loved the sport since I was born,” Mark remarked.
Mark plays in the middle of the field and receives the ball most of the time, hence he describes himself as a centerman or striker. According to his coach Mario Ornelas, Mark’s natural ability and determination have propelled him to the next level.
He put a lot of effort into his task. Ornelas stated, “I think the most important quality I see in these boys is their hard work.”
Mark’s father, Marco Vargas, received an early surprise when scouts from the LAFC saw his talent and offered him to try out for their academy.
Vargas remarked, “This arrived sooner than we anticipated.” “You know, he and I used to discuss… “You’re going to have to transition and move there when you turn 14 and I’ll take you to try out for an academy.”
According to Vargas, Mark and his family were thrilled when he received the invitation when he was just ten years old. Mark formally signed with the LAFC Academy at the end of March.
“He’s still only ten years old, and I’m really happy for him. Every day, I tell him,” Vargas remarked.
Mark takes his parents’ car to and from practices and games in Los Angeles, Monday through Thursday.
“How does it feel to travel so far to play soccer?” I enquired.
“Well, it can be really far at times, but it’s fun once you get there,” Mark remarked.

Such drives pay off for Mark, particularly when it comes to game days.
He has now netted a goal in four games with the LAFC academy.
“That was not my dad’s team.”
Mark’s first goal with LAFC was made extra sweeter by the fact that the shot came against the Pama Golden Knights, another youth team that Vargas coaches with Ornelas.
“I only had this one chance,” he remarked. It’s going to be amazing, I thought to myself when I scored my first goal with my new team. I shot it and scored.
Although he was participating in a game on, 11-year-old Sky Lertpanyawanitchakul became the first player to sign with the LA Galaxy’s academy, so Mark isn’t the only player to do so.
