Reports suggest that Fremantle is currently leading the race for an off-contract Tiger, with Richmond remaining the favored destination for the sought-after Western Australian player in 2025 and beyond.
Despite interest from both Western Australian clubs, Liam Baker’s priority remains unclear as he focuses on his performance early in the season. Baker, who hails from Pingaring, attracted attention from both Fremantle and West Coast two years ago before opting to stay at Richmond. However, speculation about his future has resurfaced, particularly with his upcoming contract negotiations.
While West Coast is reportedly interested in bringing Baker back to his home state, they are said to be behind Fremantle in the pursuit of the versatile utility player. Fremantle, equipped with a trio of first-round draft picks for the upcoming draft, is viewed as particularly keen on Baker’s services.
Richmond, meanwhile, is determined to retain Baker, with coach Adem Yze expressing the club’s commitment to keeping him. Yze emphasized Baker’s value to the team and stated that Richmond would do everything possible to keep him at the club.
As Baker approaches his 115th game for Richmond, his future beyond this season remains uncertain, with all parties set to discuss his contract in the coming weeks.
