Head coach Joe Mazzulla of the Boston Celtics
On Sunday, the Boston Celtics secured a 132-122 victory over the Washington Wizards, concluding their regular season with an impressive 64-18 record. According to insights from Inside The Celtics, head coach Joe Mazzulla expressed confidence in his team’s distinct identity as they prepare for the playoffs.
Mazzulla emphasized, “There is a clear identity for us. We know exactly who we are on both sides of the ball… The most important thing heading into the playoffs is to have no expectations.”

Discussing the diverse paths teams take to an NBA championship, Mazzulla noted, “You study teams who were fortunate enough to get to a Finals, if not win it. The road there is always forgotten by the result of winning. It looks different every year. There are teams that have had multiple Game 7s. There is a team that has only lost one game. There’s a team that’s had to come down from 3-2… It takes what it takes.”
As the top seed in the Eastern Conference, the Celtics await the outcome of the Play-In Tournament to determine their first-round opponent.
