An experienced player in a position of need is considering entering the transfer portal.
Auburn is poised to address their positional needs with multiple options once the transfer portal becomes available. Head coach Hugh Freeze highlighted the importance of bolstering the wide receiver and defensive line units following Auburn’s annual A-Day game.
According to Hayes Fawcett of On3, Louisville defensive lineman Jermayne Lole intends to enter the transfer portal. Standing at six-foot-three and weighing 310 pounds, Lole brings significant experience, having played in 39 career games over his four years in college football. Prior to his time at Louisville, he spent three seasons with the Arizona State Sun Devils.
The Tigers are particularly seeking depth on the defensive line. Recent additions include Trill Carter from Texas and Gage Keys from Kansas, with Carter serving as backup nose guard behind Jayson Jones, and Keys rotating reps with freshman Malik Blocton during A-Day.
While Auburn’s defensive line boasts talent, there’s a notable youthful presence in the room. The 2024 recruiting class showcased several standout freshmen who may see playing time this season, alongside returning players like Bobby Jamison-Travis. With only a handful of non-freshman interior linemen, including seniors Keys, Carter, Jones, and Zykevious Walker, bolstering the defensive line through the transfer portal could provide valuable depth and experience for the Tigers.
