Hamilton Tiger-Cats Strengthen Defensive Backfield with Acquisition of Allie Green IV

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats are actively bolstering their defensive backfield by recruiting American talents. As per the CFL Transactions list, they have recently finalized a deal with American defensive back Allie Green IV. Green IV becomes the second American defensive back to join the team this week, following the addition of former XFL champion cornerback Shakur Brown.

A native of Austin, Texas, defensive back Allie Green IV stands at 6’2″ and weighs 202 pounds. His collegiate football journey commenced at the University of Tulsa, where he showcased his skills in 43 games for the Golden Hurricane spanning from 2017 to 2020. During his tenure at Tulsa, Green recorded noteworthy statistics, tallying 116 total tackles, 11 pass deflections, one interception, and one forced fumble.

Transitioning to the University of Missouri for his final college football season in 2021, Green IV continued to make an impact, participating in 12 games for the Tigers and contributing 30 tackles along with four pass deflections. Following the culmination of his collegiate career, Green IV entered the NFL Draft preparation phase. Although undrafted, he secured a contract with the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent.

The pre-NFL Draft assessment of Green IV highlights his physicality as a defensive back, compensating for his perceived lack of elite sprinting speed, evidenced by his recorded 4.71s forty-yard dash time. Demonstrating commendable footwork and adeptness in closing plays, he exhibits reliability in tackling and displays disciplined decision-making on the field. With his combination of above-average agility, adept reading of plays, and sound tackling abilities, Green IV stands poised to vie for a position on the Tiger-Cats’ depth chart ahead of the 2024 season.
