Georgia has lost an offensive player to the spring transfer portal.

The Georgia Bulldogs have dominated college football in the last three seasons. Despite their success, even powerhouse programs like Georgia experience players departing through the transfer portal. On Monday, two Bulldogs players made headlines by entering the new spring transfer portal.

Firstly, running back Andrew Paul announced his entry into the portal earlier in the day. Joining him was wide receiver Braxton Lee Hicks, who took to the social media platform X to express gratitude to Georgia and its fans before declaring his intention to transfer.

Hicks, a Georgia native in his junior season, has seen limited playing time since arriving on campus. It appeared he may have waited until spring practices to assess his prospects before deciding to enter the portal, where he will likely seek greater playing opportunities elsewhere.

Notably, the rules for the spring transfer portal differ from those in the winter. In the SEC, players entering the spring portal are barred from transferring to another SEC school and immediately playing. This restriction doesn’t apply to the winter portal. Therefore, Hicks will likely seek opportunities outside the SEC unless he’s willing to sit out a season. Given his desire for more playing time, a move to a smaller school seems probable, as his chances of significant playing time with the Bulldogs appeared limited.
