Guardians Reliever Lands on Injured List with Shoulder Discomfort; Starter Sent Down to…
Ahead of Wednesday’s matchup against the Red Sox at Fenway Park, the Cleveland Guardians have initiated several roster adjustments, including placing reliever Eli Morgan on the 15-day injured list due to right shoulder inflammation.
Morgan, aged 27, delivered two scoreless innings during Tuesday’s extra-innings victory over Boston, conceding only one hit and one walk while striking out two batters.
In his absence, Wes Parsons, recently acquired from Toronto, has been called up from Triple-A Columbus to fill Morgan’s slot on the 26-man roster.
Additionally, the Guardians have chosen to send right-hander Xzavion Curry down to Columbus to make room for Wednesday’s starting pitcher, Ben Lively.
Curry’s standout performance in Monday’s 6-0 victory, where he pitched five shutout innings and struck out three batters while allowing just two hits, highlights his contribution to the team.
Furthermore, on the same day, Cleveland announced the acquisition of right-hander Pablo Avila, aged 27, from San Diego in exchange for cash considerations. However, Avila will not be available for Wednesday’s game.
To accommodate Avila on the 40-man roster, the Guardians have transferred infielder Angel Martinez to the 60-day injured list following his surgery to repair a hamate fracture earlier on Wednesday.
