His outstanding performance over the past three seasons has earned him a spot on this year’s Time 100 list, which celebrates influential figures from various fields including world leaders, entertainers, and athletes.

Joining a distinguished lineup of athletes on the list, such as Patrick Mahomes and Siya Kolisi, Verstappen’s entry was written by Time’s senior sports correspondent Sean Gregory. Gregory highlights Verstappen’s remarkable confidence on the track, noting instances where he has been able to monitor race developments behind him while maintaining his lead.

The Time 100, which began in 1999, will feature a summit on April 24 and a gala on May 15, where select honorees will be invited. Verstappen’s attendance at these events remains uncertain due to his busy schedule this season.

Verstappen’s achievements in Formula 1 include 57 race victories and 36 pole positions. He made history as F1’s youngest driver at the age of 17 when he debuted for Toro Rosso in 2015. Since joining Red Bull in 2016, Verstappen secured his first win at the Spanish Grand Prix and notably clinched the championship title in a dramatic showdown against Lewis Hamilton in 2021.

Verstappen is not the only Formula 1 driver to feature on the Time 100 list. Hamilton was previously included in 2020, while seven-time champion Michael Schumacher was recognized in 2005.
