Experienced winger Brad Malone is entering his 13th and final professional season, as announced by AHL Bakersfield. Following the upcoming postseason, the Oilers farmhand will retire, concluding an illustrious career.
Reflecting on his journey, Malone expressed gratitude, stating, “It has been a 20-year journey since I left home, and this is the only place I’ve called home since leaving.” He emphasized the significance of relationships and team culture both on and off the ice, acknowledging the support of family, staff, teammates, and mentors throughout his career.
Drafted 105th overall by Colorado in 2007, Malone embarked on his professional career in the 2011-12 season. He subsequently played for Carolina and Washington before joining Edmonton in 2017. Throughout his tenure with the Oilers organization, Malone has exemplified dedication, having signed four contracts with the team.
Although primarily associated with the Condors, Malone also contributed to the Oilers, appearing in 41 NHL games, with 10 of those coming last season. In the AHL, he amassed an impressive 551 appearances, registering 290 points, showcasing his consistent performance over the years.
With 217 NHL games under his belt, Malone leaves a lasting legacy, characterized by his resilience and contribution to both the Oilers and Condors. As he approaches the conclusion of his career, he aims to culminate it with a memorable postseason run, with the Condors already securing a spot in the Pacific Division.
