Cade Borud, former North Dakota offensive line standout, has announced his commitment to Iowa football following his attendance at Iowa’s practice at Kinnick Stadium. Borud, who redshirted the 2022 season before starting 12 games at center for North Dakota last season and earning recognition as a Phil Steele FCS Second Team Freshman All-American, brings three seasons of college eligibility to the Hawkeyes.

Having previously attended Southeast Polk High School alongside current Iowa safety Xavier Nwankpa, Borud is rated as a 3-star transfer portal prospect by 247Sports. His addition comes as the Hawkeyes seek to bolster their offensive line, an area of concern in recent seasons despite marked improvement in 2023. While Iowa aims to maintain its upward trajectory with the return of key personnel, including most contributors from last season’s offensive line, Borud’s arrival provides potential long-term value amid ongoing efforts to solidify the team’s offensive front.
