“Tigers Player Suspended, Roosters Duo Accused; Repeat Offenders Face Fresh Challenges”
Wests Tigers halfback Aidan Sezer is potentially facing suspension after a late challenge on Panthers player Brad Schneider. The incident occurred during a match in Bathurst, where Sezer clipped Schneider’s leg following a downfield kick.
This is reminiscent of a similar incident involving Manly’s Josh Aloiai in a previous round, resulting in a one-game ban for late contact. If Sezer contests the charge and is unsuccessful, he could be sidelined for two matches or face a $3000 fine for his third offense.
Meanwhile, Titans prop Jaimin Jolliffe has been cited for the second time in two weeks for dangerous contact. His tackle on Manly forward Taniela Paseka, while Paseka was already being held by two defenders, could see him fined $1800 with an early guilty plea or $2500 if he challenges the charge unsuccessfully.
On the other hand, Sydney Roosters captain James Tedesco avoided suspension for tripping Ryan Papenhuyzen during a recent match against Melbourne. Tedesco’s tackle, which resulted in Papenhuyzen falling to the ground, drew scrutiny, but he was not penalized during the game.
The match review committee later charged Tedesco with grade-one dangerous contact (tripping) and offered him a $750 fine with an early guilty plea. Despite the charge, Tedesco will be available for the Roosters’ upcoming game against St George Illawarra.
Additionally, Roosters prop Jared Waerea-Hargreaves escaped suspension for a late hit on rival prop Christian Welch and faces a $1800 fine. Conversely, Eels forward Bryce Cartwright faces a higher fine for dangerous contact on Dolphins forward Mark Nicholls, having been fined $750 for the same offense the previous week.
