Duke Basketball Roster Update: Purdue transfer Mason Gillis has committed to Duke

Duke secures a commitment from Mason Gillis of Purdue, enhancing their roster through the portal. Standing at 6-6, Gillis is anticipated to join Duke as a graduate student transfer, bringing with him four years of collegiate experience from West Lafayette. Despite not holding a starting position with the Boilermakers this season, Gillis exhibited consistency as a valuable reserve, notably showcasing a 46.8 percent success rate from beyond the arc. With this addition, Gillis is poised to become Duke’s most seasoned player upon his arrival.

Gillis marks Duke’s second acquisition from the transfer portal, following the addition of Maliq Brown, formerly of Syracuse. With these signings, Duke’s roster expands to 10 players. Further additions may be considered, including the procurement of a backup point guard to support Tyrese Proctor and Caleb Foster. While both possess point guard capabilities, securing a backup would bolster the team’s depth and strategic planning moving forward.
