With only two days remaining until the NFL Draft begins, wide receiver Xavier Legette has caught the attention of the Buffalo Bills.
According to a report by Ryan Talbot of Syracuse.com on April 23, the Bills conducted a private workout with Legette, a prospect from South Carolina who is highly regarded as a first-round pick. The Bills have also met with several other wide receivers in the weeks leading up to the draft, with many analysts anticipating that they will use their first-round selection on a pass-catcher, given the departures of Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis.
Earlier this year, Legette had an interview with the Bills at the NFL Combine in March, where he expressed his admiration for quarterback Josh Allen. Reflecting on his meeting with the team, Legette conveyed his positive experience and expressed interest in the possibility of playing in Buffalo.
Legette is considered a strong fit for the Bills, who are in need of talent after losing their top receivers. He had an impressive 2023 season at South Carolina, recording 71 receptions for 1,255 yards and seven touchdowns in 12 games. Although Legette had limited production in college before 2023, he impressed scouts with his speed and agility, particularly with a 4.39-second time in the 40-yard dash and a standout performance at the Senior Bowl.
ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. believes Legette’s stock has risen significantly, projecting him to be selected somewhere between the 23rd and 32nd picks in the draft.
While the Bills could potentially select Legette with their current No. 28 pick, some analysts speculate that they may make a more ambitious move to address their need for a top receiver. In a mock draft by Rob Maaddi of The Associated Press, it was suggested that the Bills could trade up to the No. 4 overall pick with the Arizona Cardinals to select wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. This move, although costly in terms of draft picks, would provide the Bills with a potential new No. 1 receiver following the Diggs trade and align with their aspirations to win a Super Bowl.
