The NHL playoffs have commenced, ushering in a heightened level of intensity evident in Monday night’s Game 1 clash between the Stars and Golden Knights. Mark Stone’s return to the ice after a prolonged absence due to a lacerated spleen injury was met with resounding boos from the Dallas crowd, prompting his acknowledgment: “I guess they don’t like me.”
Stone’s comeback has stirred controversy in the NHL community, notably due to the strategic placement of him on long-term injured reserve (LTIR) by the Knights. This maneuver enabled the team to create salary cap space, facilitating acquisitions such as Tomas Hertl, Noah Hanifin, and Anthony Mantha at the trade deadline.
