West Coast Eagles are set to make a surprising selection decision regarding Harley Reid.

West Coast Eagles are reportedly planning to manage teenage sensation Harley Reid for Round 7 despite his impressive recent form. Reid’s performances in the past two games have been particularly outstanding, earning him a Rising Star nomination in Round 6 and playing a crucial role in the Eagles’ consecutive victories.

However, the Eagles will be without Reid for their upcoming match against the Suns as they prioritize managing the workload of the 19-year-old early in his AFL career. This decision comes as the team aims to clear defender Tom Barrass’ one-game suspension for a dangerous tackle in the previous round.

In Reid’s absence, coach Adam Simpson may consider promoting veteran midfielder Dom Sheed to a starting role, while forward Liam Ryan could also make a return after recovering from a hamstring injury. The Eagles have several players on standby for selection, including Andrew Gaff, Harry Edwards, and Luke Edwards, with the latter expected to exit concussion protocols in time for the weekend’s game.

West Coast Eagles will face Gold Coast at People First Stadium on Sunday, looking to extend their winning streak to three matches.
