Bombers Dominate Second Quarter with Four Unanswered…

Collingwood suffered a 12-point defeat at Victoria Park in their ANZAC week clash against Essendon.

The game saw a tense last quarter, with Collingwood leading at stages.

The Pies started strongly with a three-goal third term, with two goals credited to Josh Carmichael. Ben Crocker also contributed a goal late in the opening quarter. However, the second quarter saw a different story for the Pies as Essendon piled on four unanswered goals to take the lead, with Collingwood managing only five points.

In the second half, three goals early on got the Pies back on track, with the team kicking five goals for the quarter, including two from Jack Hutchinson. Despite trailing by only seven points at the final change, Collingwood ultimately fell short by two goals.

Ash Johnson showcased versatility, starting in defence and later moving to the forward line, where he made an impact with crucial goals.

In the midfield, Fin Macrae and Lachie Sullivan demonstrated their experience and skill, combining for 49 disposals and playing a pivotal role in the team’s performance.

Goals were also contributed by Josh Carmichael, who continued his impressive record at Victoria Park, and Jack Hutchinson, who kicked two crucial goals in the third quarter.

With a record of two wins and three losses, Collingwood’s next match will be against a standalone Southport side.
