Potential Setback for Oklahoma State’s Running Back Addition

Oklahoma State Running Back AJ Green Faces Sideline Time Due to Apparent Injury

Concerns arise as running back AJ Green, one of Oklahoma State University‘s transfer acquisitions, shares a photo of his lower leg in a cast, indicating a possible setback that could affect his availability for the upcoming season. While no official statement has been issued regarding the extent of his injury, his absence would undoubtedly impact the Cowboys’ offensive lineup.

Green joined OSU after spending his first three collegiate seasons at Arkansas, where he demonstrated his prowess on the field. His presence in the backfield alongside Doak Walker Award winner Ollie Gordon II was anticipated for the upcoming season.

The injury casts doubt on Green’s ability to contribute effectively, both as a complement to Gordon and as a primary running back, a role he was expected to fulfill. Consequently, the recent addition of Indiana transfer running back Trent Howland assumes greater significance for the team.

Despite a slight decline in opportunities during his last season at Arkansas, Green showcased his abilities by rushing for 312 yards and two touchdowns in 2023, with additional contributions in receiving. Notably, his standout performance occurred during his sophomore year, where he amassed 414 yards and three touchdowns, including an impressive display in the Liberty Bowl against Kansas.

Green’s versatility was further evident in his role as a kick returner during his initial seasons, underscoring his potential as a dynamic asset to the team. Although uncertainties surround his current status, Green remains poised to make a significant impact for OSU once he returns to full fitness.
