Sunday night marked the end of the Phoenix Suns’ season as they succumbed to a 122-116 defeat against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Despite boasting a roster brimming with talent, the Suns failed to secure a single victory against the Timberwolves.
Following the game, NBA Champion Kendrick Perkins took to X to share his thoughts, stating, “Swept. They got swept. Bradley Beal, Kevin Durant, Devin Booker. Swept. One of the biggest disappointments in NBA history. If not the biggest disappointment in NBA history.”

Given the multiple NBA All-Stars on their roster such as Beal, Booker, and Durant, expectations were high for the Suns to make a deep postseason run. They concluded the regular season as the sixth seed in the Western Conference with a record of 49-33.
Last season, the Suns faced the Denver Nuggets in the second round without Beal and fell short in six games.
Exiting the playoffs so early raises significant questions about the future makeup of the Suns’ roster and coaching staff.

Although Durant, who will turn 36 in September, continues to excel as one of the league’s top players, boasting impressive regular season stats of 27.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 1.2 blocks per game, with shooting percentages of 52.3% from the field and 41.3% from three-point range, he has now experienced first-round sweeps in two of the past three seasons.

On the other hand, the Timberwolves will progress to the second round and await their matchup against either the Los Angeles Lakers or the Denver Nuggets.
