Luis Mateus, the owner of the American club Rockford Raptors, has openly expressed his desire to see Ronaldo in America. In an interview compiled by @MousaQi on X, Mateus stated, “I would like Cristiano Ronaldo to come to the United States. I have always said that Ronaldo will end up in the United States and I saw him settle here in Portugal, but I hope he does.”
Although Mateus believes Ronaldo may end his career in Portugal, he also envisions a scenario where the 39-year-old could end up in the US. As the owner of a former USISL Pro League side, Mateus believes that Boston or Los Angeles would be the best places for Ronaldo to maximize his potential in the MLS, stating, “If Ronaldo comes to Boston or goes to Los Angeles, the MLS will do something incredible.” He added, “I’ve always loved Ronaldo.”
This perspective from the Rockford Raptors boss offers an interesting insight. However, Ronaldo’s previous statement that “the Saudi league is better than MLS” might complicate any potential move to an MLS side. Swallowing his pride would be necessary for him to reconsider this stance and make a move to the US, where he would likely be welcomed by MLS fans.
