“22-Year-Old Standout Boosts Illinois Frontcourt with Size and Shooting Prowess”

Evansville transfer forward Ben Humrichous recently announced his commitment to Illinois after a campus visit, sharing the news on social media. The 6-foot-9, 220-pound senior from Tipton, Indiana, brings one season of eligibility and garnered interest from several high-major programs, including Louisville and Villanova.

Rated as a four-star transfer prospect by 247Sports, Humrichous ranked 101st in the transfer portal. In his debut Division-I season at Evansville, he averaged 14.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 0.9 blocks, and 0.7 steals across 16 games. Notably, he shot 48.4% from the field and an impressive 41.4% from three-point range on 5.3 attempts per game.

Prior to Evansville, Humrichous spent three seasons at Huntington, where he posted solid numbers, averaging 12.4 points and shooting 46.2% from the field, including 36.8% from three, along with 5.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.7 blocks, and 1.4 steals per game.

Humrichous marks the fifth transfer addition for Illinois this offseason, a crucial move for a team losing seven of its top nine scorers from last season’s successful campaign. Alongside other transfer commitments, including guard Kylan Boswell and forwards Tre White, Carey Booth, and Jake Davis, Humrichous provides a significant boost to Illinois’ roster.

Known for his versatility and shooting ability, Humrichous is viewed as a wing player despite his size. He excels in spot-up shooting situations and can effectively attack off the dribble. Additionally, he showcases strong passing skills with a low turnover rate. While his defensive capabilities may face challenges at the high-major level, his offensive prowess is expected to make a substantial impact for Illinois.
