“Collingwood Dealt Major Setback with Emerging Injury Crisis Ahead of Upcoming Game”

Collingwood has confirmed that midfielders Jordan De Goey and Tom Mitchell will be sidelined for the upcoming clash against Carlton at the MCG on Friday night.

De Goey is dealing with tight groins, while Mitchell is struggling with plantar fasciitis that has been bothering him for about a month. Coach Craig McRae announced the unfortunate news on Wednesday, expressing hope for their swift recovery.

This setback has paved the way for pre-season recruit Lachie Sullivan to make his debut. Sullivan, a former Footscray player with impressive performances in the VFL, has been consistently delivering strong stats in disposals, clearances, and tackles for Collingwood’s reserves. His debut comes amidst an anticipated crowd of over 90,000 fans.

Additionally, Finlay Macrae is likely to enter the selection discussions, showcasing dominance in the VFL but facing challenges in leaving an impact at the senior level. The potential inclusion of defender Oleg Markov could offer flexibility for players like Jack Crisp to transition into midfield roles.

McRae acknowledged the need for replacements in the midfield, highlighting the opportunities for players like Sullivan and Macrae to step up.

Collingwood is set to announce their final 23-man squad on Thursday evening ahead of the highly anticipated clash against Carlton on Friday.
