York City Announces Goalkeeper Rory Watson’s Contract Extension

York City is pleased to announce the contract extension of goalkeeper Rory Watson, solidifying his commitment to the Minstermen.

Originally joining the club in August 2023 on a deal until the season’s end, the York-born goalkeeper has now extended his tenure with York City until the summer of 2026, with an additional club option for a further year.

Watson made his debut for the club on October 14th against Needham Market in the Emirates FA Cup, impressively securing back-to-back clean sheets, including a notable performance in the replay fixture.

Upon his return to the starting lineup in March 2024, Watson continued his impressive form with consecutive clean sheets against Aldershot and Bromley, contributing significantly to pivotal victories for Adam Hinshelwood’s team.

Throughout the 2023/24 season, Watson appeared nine times for the Minstermen, showcasing his talent by maintaining four clean sheets.
