Lot of Heat’: Sydney Derby Set to Explode with ‘Lot of Fines’ After…

This weekend’s Battle of the Bridge promises to be brimming with intensity. Giants’ standout defender Sam Taylor kicked off the banter earlier this week, dubbing the Sydney Swans as “smug” following their preseason clash.

The long-standing rivalry between these cross-town foes has never been friendly, and according to St Kilda legend Leigh Montagna, emotions are bound to run high with potential fines looming in what’s expected to be a fiery Sydney Derby this weekend.

Montagna anticipates heated exchanges and perhaps even some on-field scuffles in this highly contested match. Despite emphasizing a stance against violence, he predicts that the aftermath could involve plenty of disciplinary actions. Both teams have commenced the 2024 season strongly, each boasting six wins and securing the second and third spots on the ladder respectively.

With soggy conditions expected, Montagna foresees a physical encounter with players getting up close and personal. Despite the Swans’ defiance in response to Taylor’s remarks, Montagna believes the AFL stands to profit from the anticipated spectacle.

Taylor’s remarks have ignited the anticipation for what promises to be an epic showdown on Saturday afternoon. His comments reflecting disdain for the Swans have only added fuel to the fire.

Swans coach John Longmire, when asked about Taylor’s comments, downplayed their significance, focusing instead on the game itself. However, the Giants are poised to receive a significant boost with the potential return of key players like Taylor, captain Toby Greene, and Stephen Coniglio.

Meanwhile, the Swans are likely to introduce veteran Luke Parker into their lineup following his impressive performance in the VFL last week after recovering from an arm injury.
