Oregon Ducks’ NFL Prospects Soar: Evan Stewart’s Potential Homecoming with the Dallas Cowboys

The Oregon Ducks saw a record number of eight players drafted into the NFL during the 2024 NFL Draft, with an additional five Ducks signing as undrafted free agents. The question arises: will this trend of increased representation in the NFL persist into 2025?

According to ESPN’s mock draft, Oregon is anticipated to produce another first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. In a recent mock draft, the Dallas Cowboys selected Oregon transfer receiver Evan Stewart with the No. 26 pick, marking a significant moment given Stewart’s hometown connection to Frisco, Texas, where the Cowboys headquarters is situated.

Stewart’s arrival in Oregon has already garnered attention during spring football practices, being hailed as one of the notable acquisitions for Coach Dan Lanning this year. His dynamic skill set adds depth to Oregon’s already impressive wide receiver corps.

Expressing his versatility, Stewart stated, “I want to demonstrate that I possess a wide array of skills. I can play like a big receiver, making contested catches, while also exhibiting the agility and speed of a smaller receiver. My hands are reliable, and I’m known for my quickness and speed.”

The prospect of Stewart potentially becoming a star for the Dallas Cowboys alongside established receivers like CeeDee Lamb is enticing. The Cowboys’ receiving corps currently features Lamb, Brandin Cooks, Jalen Tolbert, and Kavontae Turpin.

Having transferred from Texas A&M, Stewart amassed 1,163 receiving yards and six touchdowns over two seasons, despite facing challenges such as an early season ankle injury in 2013. His talent and experience made him a highly coveted prospect in the transfer portal, ranking among the top five overall athletes.

Stewart’s objective for the 2024 Oregon football season is crystal clear: “I’m focused on making plays and contributing to the team’s success,” he emphasized. Reflecting on his decision to join Oregon, Stewart expressed satisfaction, citing the program’s strong structure and environment as key factors in his choice.
